Recently, Hailey Williams put out a new song. Listening to her new stuff made me nostalgic for the old, so I've been listening to Paramore nonstop for a few days now. One of the older songs really struck me: "Born For This" on the "Riot!" album. The chorus goes like this: Everybody sing Like it's the last song you will ever sing Tell me, tell me do you feel the pressure now? Everybody live Like it's the last day you will ever see Tell me, tell me do you feel the pressure now? And it made me think of this interesting distinction between a Christian view of the inevitability of death and a non-Christian view. The non-Christian view of mortality goes something like this: "This could be the last day you live, so get everything you can from it."
